Our take on Anodyne
Its defining structure is a nonlinear dream world where portals in the Nexus connect dungeons, natural landscapes, hotels, temples, and abstract spaces as exploration advances.
What is Anodyne?
Anodyne is a 2D action-adventure set inside the surreal subconscious of Young, a silent protagonist trying to awaken.
Exploration moves through fields, caves, forests, cliffs, hotels, temples, space, and other unusual locations connected nonlinearly through the Nexus. Dungeons and mazes combine environmental puzzles with combat, using a broom to defeat enemies and open paths. Strange characters provide conversations and clues about Young’s psyche. Mysterious Cards scattered throughout the world unlock access to deeper regions, while health upgrades support progress into more dangerous areas. The Steam version includes both Anodyne Remastered and Classic Anodyne. The main adventure lasts 6-8+ hours, with additional surprises after the credits.
