Our take on Alruna and the Necro-Industrialists
The emphasis on compact rooms and flexible progression gives up some of the spacious, continuously unfolding feel associated with larger Metroidvania worlds. That trade-off concentrates exploration into a puzzle-like structure where route planning and finding exceptions matter more than covering broad terrain.
What is Alruna and the Necro-Industrialists?
Alruna and the Necro-Industrialists is a compact Metroidvania set in a dying world of dryads, skeletons, and industrial domination.
An overworld connects the game’s areas, while more than 200 single-screen rooms form a larger puzzle-like map. Players can challenge four major temples and their bosses in different sequences, search for a possible fifth temple, and use abilities such as self-created climbing vines to bypass puzzles. Weapons can be skipped in favor of special abilities. Hidden mini-games, power-ups, shortcuts, and secrets appear throughout the world. The game includes an enemies-to-lovers romance, multiple endings tied to combat and exploration, and an approach that allows paths through the story to vary.
