Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a tightly scripted campaign rather than an event-driven colony sandbox
- Players who want a simple management game without resident health, mood, expectations, and relationship systems
- Groups seeking fully established 3–4-player co-op, since that mode is experimental
Our take on AColony
The page gives online co-op prominent placement, but qualifies 3–4-player play as experimental. That distinction matters for groups considering the game primarily for larger cooperative sessions, while the core description focuses on colony management and individual colonists.
What is AColony?
AColony is a colony-building strategy game that begins with a few colonists and limited supplies in an unfamiliar world.
Players construct multi-level, underground, and mountain bases, furnish rooms, produce items, and maintain power systems. A technology tree contains more than 50 fields across four ages, unlocking weapons, machines, items, and construction options. Colonists have expectations, moods, injuries, illnesses, skills, talents, and traits, while relationships can develop within and between player communities. Wanderers, traders, neutral colonists, hostile groups, animals, insects, and other events create changing situations. Online co-op places players in one world with separate colonists, enabling trading, medical treatment, joint responses to attacks, shared quests, and relationship-building. Co-op for 3–4 players is described as experimental.
