Our take on A City Sleeps™
Its music-driven design makes the soundtrack part of combat, but also ties attacks, enemy behavior, and movement to a fixed rhythmic structure rather than leaving every encounter fully independent of the score.
What is A City Sleeps™?
A City Sleeps is a twin-stick shoot-'em-up set in the dreams of SanLo's sleeping residents.
Poe, a dream exorcist, uses her Koto-sword and ghost familiars to battle demons and uncover the city's secrets. Player actions and enemy encounters shape an experimental electronic and hip-hop soundtrack, which also controls projectiles, enemy arrivals, movement, and bullet patterns. The Idol System lets ghost familiars possess objects and provide offensive or defensive abilities, including area attacks and healing bullets. Players can combine ghosts and equip relics to alter Poe's tactical options. Reverie, Lucid, and Nightmare difficulties support different challenge levels, while Cursed variants remix stages for greater difficulty. Global leaderboards provide competition with friends and other players.
