Our take on たんぼ
Instead of making horror depend on combat or a large exploration structure, Tanbo places its unusual events within a familiar dog-walking routine. The repeated walk home, followed by preparing food and water, gives everyday tasks a central role in the genre’s tension.
What is たんぼ?
Tanbo is a brief horror adventure played from a first-person viewpoint.
During a summer evening following a storm, players accompany Bonta, a dog, on a routine walk that gradually turns unsettling. The usual sequence involves taking Bonta outside, coming back to the house, and setting out food and water. Players explore the area, interact with objects, and deal with strange events as they occur. Certain situations can end the game, and two possible conclusions are available. The controls assign movement to WASD, interaction to E, the menu to M, and advancing dialogue to the Space bar.
How たんぼ plays
- 01Dog Care Routine
- Returning home after a walk involves preparing water and food for Bonta.
- 02Two Endings
- The game provides 2 possible endings.
- 03Keyboard Controls
- WASD handles movement, E handles actions, M opens the menu, and the Space bar advances text.
