Is Zexion worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Action-adventure players who want exploration tied to equipment and artifacts
- Players who enjoy directional shooting and boss encounters rather than passive exploration
- Replay-focused players willing to finish the main game before accessing randomized play
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a tightly linear campaign may find the interconnected world and hidden routes less suitable
- Players wanting randomized runs from the start will need to complete the game before using that mode
- Players looking specifically for multiplayer combat may prefer a game built around cooperative or competitive play
Our take on Zexion
The presentation emphasizes a large world, upgrades, secrets, and a randomizer, but the randomizer is locked until the game is completed. That makes the replay-focused feature a post-completion addition rather than part of the initial play experience.
What is Zexion?
Play as Natu, a space warrior traveling to Cypher-X72 to find Zexion and save the home world Orinth.
Exploration takes place across an interconnected world filled with weapons, equipment, artifacts, enemies, secrets, and hidden paths. The Force Blaster fires bullets in a spread, pushes blocks, and knocks enemies back, while the Gravity Harness allows short-distance flight. These items open routes farther into the planet. Combat supports shooting in eight directions independently of movement. Galactic warlords, space pirates, and bosses stand between Natu and the forbidden technology. A built-in randomizer adds another play mode, but it becomes available only after completing the game.
How Zexion plays
- 01Interconnected Exploration
- Artifacts and equipment open routes into deeper areas of Cypher-X72.
- 02Directional Shooting
- Natu can fire in eight directions without changing movement direction.
- 03Force Blaster
- This weapon spreads bullets that can move blocks and push enemies backward.
- 04Gravity Harness
- The device permits brief periods of flight.
- 05Post-Game Randomizer
- The alternate randomized mode is unlocked after the main game is completed.
Zexion compared to similar games
Zexion combines interconnected exploration, directional shooting, equipment-based path access, and a post-completion randomizer. Sundered: Eldritch Edition is described as a chaotic metroidvania, while Abyssus centers on multiplayer shooting, hand-crafted levels, and roguelite progression with weapon modifications.
