Our take on XIII
Players who want a single, consistent action loop may hit a wall when the campaign shifts from combat into infiltration and exploration. The story also centers on uncovering an assassination conspiracy through an amnesiac protagonist, so those looking for a plot-light shooter may lose interest as that mystery unfolds.
What is XIII?
XIII is a first-person action game built around a solo campaign and multiplayer fights.
The story follows a man who wakes on a beach with no memories and the number XIII tattooed near his collarbone. Searching for clues to his identity, he becomes involved in the assassination of President Sheridan and a wider conspiracy. The 34-level campaign mixes action with infiltration and exploration. Its presentation uses cel-shading, with comic-inspired elements such as speech bubbles, panels and onomatopoeia. The game also includes 15 weapons and music and voices from the original version. Multiplayer offers fights against other players.
