Our take on World of Subways 1 – The Path
The focus on operating one subway route gives the simulation detailed driving, station, and cab procedures, but limits variety to train-service scenarios on that route.
What is World of Subways 1 – The Path?
Operate trains on the New York Path route between New York and Newark, covering approximately 50 kilometers through underground and above-ground sections.
The simulator includes scheduled shift services, incidents during operations, time-dependent passenger volumes, station announcements, and destination displays. Train handling uses physics based on real-life behavior and training simulators, including vibration, swinging during speed changes, braking effects, and wear linked to driving style. Players can configure keyboard commands, look around a rotatable cab, and move through the train or stations when stopped. Some missions require leaving the cab, walking along a platform, and changing cabs at Hoboken. Doors can be controlled separately on each side. Lighting, sound, motion blur, and tunnel effects are also part of the presentation.
How World of Subways 1 – The Path plays
- 01New York route

- 02Scheduled shift service
- Operations follow shift schedules and can include incidents, announcements, and passenger volumes that vary by time of day.
- 03Train handling physics
- Speed and braking affect carriage movement, cockpit vibration, train sway, and simulated wear based on operating style.
- 04Station movement
- When stopped, players can leave the train and walk around stations, including to missions that begin on a platform.
- 05Cab changes
- Some Hoboken weekend operations require walking from one end of the train to the other before departure.
