Our take on White Hell
Combat-earned SISU-energy activates a mode that transforms Jarmo’s weapons, making the changing arsenal the defining mechanic.
What is White Hell?
White Hell is a retro first-person shooter set in Finland after an apocalypse.
Jarmo, a solitary survivor awakened from hibernation, battles through frozen lands ruled by the fascist Order of the Blue Eagle and communist Red Tomorrow. His route begins in an apartment block and continues through seized cities, concealed laboratories, wild terrain, and a separate dimension. The arsenal includes a pump shotgun and a blade infused with eldritch power. Vanquished foes yield SISU-energy, allowing SISU-mode to alter weapons into stronger forms with added functions. An original MIDI score by Arsi “Hakita” Patala accompanies the game.
How White Hell plays
- 01SISU-powered combat
- Defeating enemies builds energy that activates a mode which changes weapons and adds new capabilities.
- 02Changing environments
- The route moves from an apartment building through cities, research sites and wilderness, before reaching another dimension.
- 03Original MIDI soundtrack
- The music was composed by Arsi “Hakita” Patala and uses 90s-style soundfonts.
