Our take on Astral Flux
Rather than advancing through an unchanged sequence of levels, the game reshapes its world after death. Progress depends on carrying knowledge from earlier runs into new routes, making repetition part of its structure.
What is Astral Flux?
Astral Flux follows two spacefaring scavengers drawn into a mystery spanning the galaxy.
The action-platforming roguelite sends them through dangerous alien worlds, remote dimensions, and old extraterrestrial ruins, where they can battle or avoid hostile life. Each death alters the environment, producing a fresh route on the next attempt. Skills and abilities can improve during a run, and procedurally created combat chambers offer encounters alongside upgrades. Ongoing free additions include an aquatic world with unfamiliar enemies, artifacts that persist between deaths, extra equipment, and more challenge areas. The narrative centers on exposing hidden truths while surviving encounters with formidable adversaries.
How Astral Flux plays
- 01Changing run layouts
- Death alters the world around the player, creating a different route for the next attempt.
- 02Procedural combat rooms
- Generated encounters present combat challenges and provide upgrades.
- 03Persistent artifacts
- Artifacts introduced in an update remain available after death.
Astral Flux compared to similar games
Astral Flux combines action-platforming with changing runs and procedurally generated combat rooms. Sundered: Eldritch Edition is described instead as a metroidvania with chaotic gameplay and previously released updates.
