Our take on Wendigo
Rather than relying on scripted jump scares, Wendigo centers danger on an autonomous creature that may cross the player's path. Its stealth and investigation structure also ties clues found in one place to puzzles elsewhere.
What is Wendigo?
Wendigo is a stealth horror game set mainly in Tamarack National Park, a fictional wooded area.
Players explore at night with a crank flashlight and use a radio to find unusual signals that grow louder as they approach. The creature can move through the area autonomously, and sounds made by the player can attract attention. A journal records previously discovered information, which may be needed to solve puzzles elsewhere in the park. The game centers on investigating the location, uncovering past and present secrets, and completing a task while avoiding the creature. A playthrough takes about 2 hours, with extra time possible for players who get stuck.
