Our take on Warnament
Instead of limiting play to preset historical scenarios, Warnament includes tools for making custom maps and settings, including worlds outside real-world history. Its national strategy also spans diplomacy, economics, military decisions, and province-level development.
What is Warnament?
Warnament is a turn-based grand strategy game about leading a nation through territorial expansion and development.
Military, technology, culture, and politics offer different areas of focus. Players can declare wars, negotiate peace, form alliances, trade, and impose economic sanctions. Military options include land forces, naval fleets, fortifications, and chemical or nuclear weapons. Provinces can be managed individually, while a technology tree unlocks buildings and structures. Players can choose historical scenarios or use the editor to make custom maps and scenarios, including alternate histories or settings unrelated to the real world. A timelapse editor can also be used to create a history, and custom content can be shared with other players.
How Warnament plays
- 01Custom scenarios
- The editor supports player-made maps and settings ranging from alternate history to worlds unrelated to real events.
- 02Diplomatic options
- Treaties, alliances, guarantees, vassalage, trade, and sanctions shape relations between nations.
- 03Province management
- Each province can be controlled independently as part of a country's economic and scientific development.
- 04Military forces
- Land units, warships, defensive structures, and chemical or nuclear weapons are available.
Warnament compared to similar games
Old World centers on leading an empire across multiple generations, with political marriages and heirs shaping its play. Warnament instead emphasizes diplomacy between nations, independent province management, and player-created scenarios and maps.
