Our take on WAR RATS: The Rat em Up
Its defining structure is the combination of sidescrolling shooting and tower defense, requiring the player to fight alongside rat troops while constructing defenses against enemy waves.
What is WAR RATS: The Rat em Up?
WAR RATS: The Rat em Up combines a sidescrolling roguelite shooter with tower defense and RPG elements.
Players fight alongside recruited rat units, call in reinforcements, collect loot, buy weapons, and upgrade attributes between runs. Defensive construction includes turrets, walls, shrines, resource generators, and missile launchers. The single-player campaign spans 12 maps, with Horde, Skirmish, and New Game+ modes. New Game+ uses light procedural generation, while Horde Mode sends increasingly strong waves from both sides of the base.
