Volleyball Unbound is a beach volleyball game built around matches, tournaments, and career progression.
Career mode starts a team as a local underdog in one of 30 nations; results at national events can open access to continental and international tournaments. After each tournament, teams can train to address weaknesses. Matches use a range of shots and spikes, with ball spin and timing affecting the ball’s path and contact. Players can control one athlete or alternate between both teammates, and can also play cooperatively with a friend.
Local party tournaments support up to 16 teams, with up to 4 people playing at once. The character editor lets players adjust appearance and athletic abilities. Opponent AI has multiple difficulty settings and can respond to repeated play patterns.
