Our take on Volkstein
The defining setup is an inexperienced writer forced into a monster-filled rescue quest after a demonic trickster takes his wife, turning an ordinary homebody into the unlikely protagonist of a 2D RPG adventure.
What is Volkstein?
Volkstein combines traditional 2D platforming with light RPG mechanics.
Cauflin, a reluctant writer who has never learned magic or swordplay, leaves home after the demonic trickster Ouvbane kidnaps his wife. The journey crosses distinct lands filled with monsters, bandits, unusual creatures, and bosses. Level upgrades let players choose between health, melee, armor, and magic improvements. Exploration also provides eight armor sets, swords, and spells. The story follows Cauflin’s attempt to recover his wife, preserve his comfortable lifestyle, and finish writing his novel while traveling across the country. Its influences range from Mega Man to Morrowind.
