Our take on Vaudeville
Real-time dialogue places more weight on the questions asked during the investigation. That conversational focus gives up some of the directness of a case presented through fixed story beats, making the player’s wording part of how the mystery unfolds.
What is Vaudeville?
Vaudeville is a narrative detective game set in a European city, with the player taking the role of private investigator Detective Martini.
The case concerns the murders of three people and a group of suspects, including a lion tamer, burlesque dancer, widow, and nobleman. Players visit locations such as Cabane Violette, Circus Saxabar, Gravesen Manor, and the Blackwoods while collecting clues. Artificial intelligence generates dialogue during play, and inhabitants can be addressed through typed language or a microphone. Conversations and interactions differ between games. The investigation combines murder, suspense, absurdity, art, and music as players examine the city and question its residents in search of the truth.
