Our take on VaporBall
Teleportation depends on the thrown ball landing, so a long throw also means waiting longer to move. That makes the ball's destination and travel time part of each repositioning decision.
What is VaporBall?
VaporBall is a multiplayer VR dodgeball game set in virtual arenas.
Players charge and throw Damage Balls to eliminate opponents, or use Teleport Balls to move to the spot where they land. A charged Damage Ball can also deflect incoming throws, while players can dodge by moving within their physical play space. The game includes Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch, with matches for 1v1, 2v2, or 4v4 players. Three maps are available: a vaporwave arena, city rooftops, and a desert military base. An offline, round-based Training mode provides a place to practice. An objective mode is described as planned, not currently available.
How VaporBall plays
- 01Teleport Ball Movement
- Movement happens only when the thrown ball lands, so its travel time affects when a player can reposition.
- 02Damage Ball Defense
- Holding a charged Damage Ball lets a player block incoming balls, alongside dodging through physical movement.
- 03Team Match Sizes
- Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch support 1v1, 2v2, and 4v4 play.
- 04Offline Training
- A round-based mode lets players practice without joining a multiplayer match.
- 05Three Arenas
- The current settings include a vaporwave arena, rooftop city, and desert military base.
