Our take on Vagabond

Rather than centering a single campaign, Vagabond replaces the usual fixed RPG progression with a self-directed sandbox. Treasure hunting, smithing, community work, crafting, housing, exploration, and multiplayer all serve as possible ways to define the character's role.

What is Vagabond?

Vagabond is a 2D sandbox RPG built around procedurally generated worlds, exploration, and personal choices.

The player begins without possessions or memories, then can pursue roles such as treasure hunter, blacksmith, or community benefactor. Travel spans different biomes containing villages, ruins, temples, caves, resources, and monsters. Activities include gathering wood and minerals, growing crops, hunting, completing quests, joining guilds, learning skills, crafting weapons, armor, potions, clothing, furniture, and magical items, and furnishing a home. Villagers have stories and customs, while dungeons offer combat and treasure. Networked multiplayer supports shared play through a local network or the Internet.

Vagabond compared to similar games

Vagabond combines procedurally generated exploration, village life, open-ended roles, crafting, dungeon combat, and networked multiplayer. Immortal Life instead focuses on rebuilding the Guiyun Sect and pursuing immortality through spiritual cultivation, while Mr. Prepper centers on underground shelter construction, survival crafting, and resistance to an authoritarian government.
