Our take on UnLoop
Its defining mechanic is that every reset leaves a speaking, moving copy behind, turning earlier attempts into the team required for later puzzles.
What is UnLoop?
UnLoop is a VR-only game set on a retro space station trapped in a time loop.
Each reset leaves behind a copy that repeats the player’s earlier physical movements, gestures, and spoken words in real time. Puzzles depend on coordinating with these past versions to give instructions, handle objects, and complete tasks. A laser gun can reset the loop by shooting the player or a copy, making death part of the game’s structure. As loops accumulate, several copies may occupy the same room and repeat actions from earlier attempts. One described challenge involves coordinating three past copies to move a keycard through a door.
How UnLoop plays
- 01Recorded voice playback
- Copies repeat words spoken during earlier attempts in real time.
- 02Action replay copies
- Each reset leaves a version that reproduces earlier movements and gestures.
- 03Laser reset mechanic
- Shooting the player or a copy immediately restarts the loop.
- 04Multi-copy coordination
- Some puzzles require three past versions to work together on a single task.
