ActionIs Dreadway worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Small co-op groups who want voice communication to affect survival and puzzles
- Horror players who enjoy resource collection, crafting, and monster avoidance
- Friends who want chaotic team interactions during short expedition runs
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who do not want spoken input to control locks, doors, or monster encounters will hit a wall at the voice-driven mechanics.
- Players seeking a solitary horror campaign or a combat-focused structure may find the shared train expeditions and scavenging loop too limiting.
- Groups larger than four players cannot join the same listed co-op session.
Our take on Dreadway
The bounce point arrives when voice chat stops being optional flavor and becomes a survival input. Players must speak to open coded barriers, manage how loudly they reveal their position, and shout the required word when monsters approach. Anyone unable or unwilling to use voice mechanics will lose access to core interactions.
What is Dreadway?
Dreadway is an online co-op survival horror game for 1–4 players traveling through nuclear wastelands by train.
Players search for scrap and other resources, turn found materials into tools, devices, and survival equipment, and upgrade their characters. The train requires continual fueling, so collected items may be used to keep the expedition moving. Voice chat is part of the gameplay: spoken input can open coded locks and doors, while monsters can hear players and react to their voices. Players can shout a code word to drive monsters away, solve puzzles in bunkers, avoid traps, and deal with hazards. Teammates can also kick one another, creating opportunities for interruption, rescue, sabotage, or accidental trouble during each run.
How Dreadway plays
- 01Four-player co-op
- Online groups can include one to four players traveling together through the wasteland.
- 02Voice-based interactions
- Spoken input is used for coded locks, doors, and a command that can repel monsters.
- 03Audible monsters
- Player voices can reveal positions and trigger reactions from creatures with distinct behavior.
- 04Resource crafting
- Found junk can be turned into tools, devices, and equipment for survival.
- 05Train fuel management
- The moving train consumes collected materials and must be supplied during the expedition.
- 06Teammate kicking
- Players can interrupt, shove, rescue, or sabotage companions through the kicking mechanic.
- 07Bunker puzzles
- Co-op puzzle encounters take place in bunker locations.
