Our take on Uniseas
Rather than focusing only on territorial expansion, the game ties each rival's hostility to a flagship encounter: defeat that ship and the captain is eliminated. That gives relationships a direct role in the route to winning, alongside island capture and shipbuilding.
What is Uniseas?
Uniseas is a real-time strategy game in which a newcomer competes with three pirate captains to control a new world.
Capture islands to establish homes and shipyards, then build small vessels for trade and larger ships for expansion and combat. Relations with rival captains affect the conflict: when one turns fully hostile, they attack with a flagship. Defeat that ship to eliminate its captain; all three rivals must be defeated to win. Maps are randomly generated, and the game uses a faux-3D presentation. The stated playtime is about 1 hour. Camera movement, rotation and zoom use keyboard and mouse controls, with mouse clicks for selecting boats, issuing movement or attack commands, and selecting docks.
How Uniseas plays
- 01Rival captain relations
- A captain who becomes fully hostile attacks with a flagship, and losing that ship removes them from the contest.
- 02Random map generation
- Each map is generated randomly, changing the island layout between games.
- 03Trade and warships
- Small vessels serve trade, while larger ships support combat and island expansion.
Uniseas compared to similar games
Uniseas focuses on pirate captains, island settlement and shipbuilding, while Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation centers on managing vast armies across a world. Uniseas also ties rival elimination to defeating a hostile captain's flagship; Ashes describes a conflict between humanity and a new enemy.
