Our take on Underwater Life
The game concentrates its design on feeding, growth, and predator avoidance. That focus gives the fish’s life cycle a clear role, but sacrifices broader objectives and other forms of progression outside the food-chain loop.
What is Underwater Life?
Underwater Life is a 2D simulator about the life of a fish in an underwater world.
The game begins with the player controlling a small fish that must eat smaller fish to grow. Fish larger than the player can cause a loss, while some creatures move quickly and may catch the player. The progression follows the fish from its early fry stage to becoming a large fish at the top of the food chain. The game includes a variety of fish, colorful underwater environments, musical accompaniment, and solo or shared play.
How Underwater Life plays
- 01Fish growth
- Eating smaller fish moves the player from the fry stage toward becoming a larger fish.
- 02Predator avoidance
- Fish larger than the player can cause a loss, and some fish move at high speed.
- 03Shared play
- The game can be played alone or together with others.
