Our take on Shoal
The game departs from adventure conventions by making the player the hunted species’ predator rather than an explorer visiting the environment. Its central structure replaces conventional questing with swimming through open water, pursuing prey, maintaining energy, and watching for larger predators.
What is Shoal?
Shoal is an underwater hunting and exploration game focused on controlling a shark.
The player swims through schools of fish and catches smaller prey to keep the shark’s energy up. The ocean depths contain marine life and may also include larger predators. Alongside hunting, the game supports free swimming and exploration in a calm underwater setting. Its gameplay combines shark-themed adventure with simulation elements, centering on movement, feeding, environmental exploration, and awareness of nearby threats. The game is currently under slow development, which the vendor attributes to the war in Ukraine.
How Shoal plays
- 01Shark Hunting
- Smaller fish serve as prey and provide energy for the shark.
- 02Underwater Exploration
- The shark can swim freely through ocean depths filled with marine life.
- 03Larger Predators
- Other predators may be nearby while the shark hunts.
