Our take on UNDERGROUND
The defining constraint is navigation without a map or landmarks: progress depends on remembering a 2,000-meter tunnel network while a roaming creature creates pressure during each attempt.
What is UNDERGROUND?
Underground is a first-person horror game set in a network of dark caves.
The player controls a lost spelunker searching for the only exit through narrow passages, tight spaces, and dead ends. A flashlight provides limited illumination, while a creature moves unpredictably through the tunnels and reacts to sounds and changes in light. There is no map, no obvious landmark system, and no save point, so each attempt depends on remembering the cave and refining navigation. Crawling opens routes through confined areas and can provide ways around the creature. The vendor describes the cave network as extending for 2,000 meters. An individual session may last from 30 minutes to several hours, depending on progress and navigation.
How UNDERGROUND plays
- 01Limited Flashlight
- The only light source provides weak illumination while the player moves through the caves.
- 02Roaming Creature
- An unpredictable enemy follows through the tunnels and can react to noise and changes in light.
- 03No Navigation Aids
- The player must find the exit without a map or obvious visual landmarks.
- 04Crawling Routes
- Narrow passages can be used to reach alternate routes or move past the creature.
- 05No Save Points
- A failed attempt requires starting again rather than returning to a saved position.
