Skip it if you…

Our take on Twelves:Shadow
The likely sticking point is the boss loop: each fight asks for quick observation and counterattacks, so players who cannot read an enemy’s patterns may stall before making progress. The shard system adds choices, but the central structure remains a sequence of boss battles.
What is Twelves:Shadow?
Twelves:Shadow is a boss-rush action game set in a Chinese-style world inspired by the zodiac.
Playing as WuMing, a nameless figure with a single sword, players face twelve bosses whose move sets and transformations differ. Battles center on watching enemy patterns, finding counters, and responding quickly. Defeated bosses leave Shadow Shards that merge with WuMing and grant abilities when activated. Shadow Strike attacks can steal spirit cores during combat, which fuel Shadow Invocation spells; activating the matching boss shard strengthens those spells.
Combining shards also unlocks combo skills with different effects. After each boss defeat, an echo appears in the world. Interacting with these echoes reveals pieces of each boss’s story as the player pursues the truth behind the world’s cycle of fate.
How Twelves:Shadow plays
- 01Shadow Shard Abilities
- Each defeated boss leaves a shard that can be activated for a new combat ability.
- 02Spirit Core Spells
- Shadow Strike attacks take spirit cores from bosses, which can be used to cast spells during battles.
- 03Shard Combo Skills
- Combining shards unlocks skills whose effects vary with the chosen combination.
- 04Boss Echoes
- Interactions with echoes that appear after boss victories reveal fragments of their stories.
