Our take on Treasure Fleet

The game’s broad strategic menu comes with a dispersed focus: exploration, trade, settlement, and warfare all compete for attention. Players looking for a single dominant system may find that this variety reduces the intensity of any one activity.

What is Treasure Fleet?

A turn-based 4X strategy game set during the Age of Discovery.

Players begin with a ship carrying colonists and explore a procedurally generated New World. Settlements produce trade goods through colonists and hired craftsmen, while more than 30 building types support commerce, defense, and industry. Expeditions can visit native villages, uncover ruins, search for treasure, and pursue El Dorado. Trade goods can be sold in the home country, and new ship types become available over time. Garrisons defend colonies from hostile natives, while wars can be fought against other European powers. Each country offers different bonuses, and the king provides missions with rewards. A campaign can eventually lead to declaring independence and resisting the king’s expeditionary force.

Men of War: Assault Squad centers on direct command and hands-on combat in World War II, while Treasure Fleet focuses on exploration, colonies, trade, and country-level warfare. Xenonauts follows a Cold War alien-defense structure with persistent soldiers and squad operations; Treasure Fleet instead builds a procedurally generated colonial campaign around settlements, ships, and economic development.
