Our take on Trainscape
Instead of centering on transport management, Trainscape makes the miniature railway itself the place to build, decorate, observe, and ride. Its main structure is a personal model world rather than a schedule-driven or economy-focused railway game.
What is Trainscape?
Trainscape is a VR sandbox for building model railway layouts.
Players create tracks with guides, snapping tools, and loop-closing assistance, then add elevation to the rail network. Layouts can be populated with trains, rolling stock, buildings, props, townsfolk, and other scenery. The finished world can be viewed from the table surface, observed as trains pass through it, or explored by boarding a train. Players can also sound the whistle and watch the surroundings through a locomotive nose camera shown via the in-game television. The vendor lists future plans for tunnels, bridges, mountains, canyons, branching and merging tracks, workshop visitors, and workshop sharing through Google Daydream or Gear VR.
How Trainscape plays
- 01Guided Track Building
- Track tools assist with alignment, connections, and completing closed circuits.
- 02Elevated Railways
- Rail lines can be raised to add vertical changes to a layout.
- 03Scene Decoration
- Layouts can include structures, scenery objects, residents, trains, and rolling stock.
- 04Locomotive Riding
- Players can board trains, sound the whistle, and view the world from a locomotive camera.
- 05Tabletop Viewing
- A zoomed table-level perspective shows the complete miniature world from above.
