We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Action-RPG players who want to control a three-hero party rather than a solo character
- Folklore fans who want familiar characters placed in altered fantasy realms
- Players who enjoy building character abilities and changing combat tactics through gear and hero swaps
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a story-led RPG centered on dialogue and character choices may find the combat-focused structure limiting.
- Players who prefer a finite campaign may find the endless Arena battles repetitive after completing the five realms.
- Players looking for multiplayer co-op should note that the described party consists of three heroes, not multiple players.
Our take on Torn Tales
The party-switching combat and character builds put tactical choices at the center, but the available structure is focused on fighting. Players seeking a dialogue-heavy or choice-driven tale may find less room for those elements here.
What is Torn Tales?
Torn Tales is a real-time squad RPG in which players lead Robin Hood, Snow White, and Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde through corrupted folklore settings.
The party has three heroes with distinct skills, and the lead character can be switched during combat to change tactics. Players explore five realms, fight monsters and bosses, collect loot with varied combinations of effects, and unlock or upgrade character abilities through skill trees. Load-outs can be adjusted to shape the party’s fighting capabilities. An endless Arena mode provides continuing battles against groups of enemies, with global leaderboards tracking how long players endure. The setting brings together figures from familiar tales in worlds altered by the Bookbinder.
