- Visual novel and point-and-click adventure players who prefer psychological mysteries
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking real-time combat or action-focused gameplay
- Those who prefer a single linear route rather than branching outcomes and repeated paths
- Players looking for a broad open-world adventure instead of a focused investigation
Our take on Tokyo Dark
Its branching structure gives decisions lasting weight, but it sacrifices the straightforward pacing of a single linear investigation. Reaching all 11 endings also makes repeated play part of the experience rather than an optional detour.
What is Tokyo Dark?
Tokyo Dark follows Detective Ito as she investigates her missing partner beneath Tokyo.
The game combines point-and-click exploration and puzzle solving with visual-novel-style narrative scenes. Player decisions and actions affect Ito’s Sanity, Professionalism, Investigation, and Neurosis, changing character reactions and which actions become available. The branching story has 11 endings, while NewGame+ places the player at the starting point for each ending. The investigation also confronts Ito with her past and raises questions about her sanity. The Collector’s Edition includes the core game, a digital soundtrack, and a PDF art book with development imagery. Animated sequences and an original soundtrack accompany the investigation.
