Our take on To The Capital
The clear messenger objective gives the journey a defined direction, but that focus limits the mission to reaching the capital and delivering the message. The generated world, trading and equipment improvements add activities around that central task.
What is To The Capital?
To The Capital is a roguelike RPG set in a medieval world, combining roguelike elements with battles like those found in older Japanese role-playing games.
The player takes the role of a messenger sent from the southern border to the capital in the north. The objective is to deliver a message to the king about traitors in the Council. After learning about the messenger, the Council announces a reward for the messenger’s head. The journey takes place in a generated world and includes fights, dungeons, monsters, gold and loot. Players can trade and improve weapons and armor during the journey.
