We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Puzzle RPG players who want combat encounters governed by turn limits
- Explorers who enjoy uncovering alternate routes and area secrets

Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking relaxed combat may hit a wall when miasma limits turns and enemies require different strategies.
- Players wanting a straightforward, consequence-light campaign may struggle with planning around resources, route choices, and repeatable time windows.
- Players uninterested in timed challenges may have little use for Regimental Mode’s 2-hour completion limit.
Our take on Thistlemine
The bounce point arrives in combat: miasma cuts down the available turns while enemy groups, phases, artifacts, and route variations demand different plans. Players who prefer forgiving battles may stall when experimentation must happen within a shrinking action window.
What is Thistlemine?
Play as Noa, a low-ranking excavator sent into a dangerous zone where warped space and time, poisonous miasma, puzzles, and mutated creatures shape the journey.
Exploration covers 7 major areas containing secrets, combat encounters, alternate routes, and small variations based on decisions, resource use, and puzzle solutions. Battles against plant-like Anomalis impose turn limits through miasma production, with over 40 encounters featuring different strategies, phases, and route variations. Artifacts grant buffs, stat increases, skills, and active abilities that affect combat planning. Potential allies can join the party or be killed. Standard Mode supports checkpoints and enabled dialogue, while Regimental Mode sets a 2-hour completion limit. The Temporal Rift provides an unlocked space for experimentation and route optimization.
