Our take on Think of the Children
Rather than centering on conventional parenting routines, the game turns family outings into a courtroom case built from hazardous flashbacks. Its structure pairs cooperative task juggling with the goal of earning a parenting grade and avoiding jail.
What is Think of the Children?
Think of the Children is a parenting simulator where players handle childcare tasks while keeping children safe in hazardous places.
Play solo or with up to four players, completing trips shown as flashbacks during a court case about alleged bad parenting. Locations include a park birthday party, a zoo, a camping trip and the Australian Outback. Each trip presents tasks to finish, children to keep happy and dangers to manage, such as poisonous berries, a rabid dog or a fire at a barbecue.
Players are graded on their parenting and try to avoid jail. The activity is built around handling several demands at once: setting up picnic tables, tending a barbecue and responding to children near hazards can all compete for attention.
How Think of the Children plays
- 01Up to four players
- The trips can be played alone or cooperatively with as many as four players.
- 02Courtroom framing
- Trips appear as flashbacks presented as evidence in a case over the parents’ conduct.
- 03Hazard-filled outings
- Locations such as parks, zoos and supermarkets contain dangers ranging from poisonous berries to electrified pens.
- 04Parenting grade
- Finishing tasks and keeping children happy and alive contribute to the grade and the effort to avoid jail.
