We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Strategy players who prefer peaceful settlement management with nightly defenses
- Players who enjoy assigning workers to specialized roles across island settlements
- Fans of customizable strategy games who want avatars, mounts, pets, and user-created islands
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking constant combat may find the relaxed settlement-building focus too slow
- Players wanting direct control of individual units may not enjoy issuing orders through assigned villagers
- Players looking for a large-scale empire simulator may find the island-based campaign narrower in scope
Our take on The Wild Age
The relaxed management focus limits the intensity of its defense encounters. Players spend much of the experience assigning village duties and preparing for nightly attacks rather than directing continuous combat.
What is The Wild Age?
The Wild Age combines settlement management with tower-defense gameplay across several islands.
As a new ruler, players establish an independent settlement, hire villagers, and complete each island’s main objective while goblins attack at night. Orders direct villagers into roles such as building, forestry, farming, hunting, and wall defense, with coins serving as the game’s single resource. Avatars, mounts, and pets provide different attributes or campaign assistance, while completed objectives unlock rewards and customization options. Players can cancel queued actions, remove constructed buildings, change their character and mount, and create islands based on their own ideas to share with friends. The campaign also includes unlockable options and multiple strategic approaches.
How The Wild Age plays
- 01Villager Roles
- Builders, foresters, farmers, and archers handle construction, resource gathering, coin production, hunting, and settlement defense.
- 02Night Goblin Attacks
- Enemy goblins assault the settlement after dark, requiring defensive orders and archer positioning.
- 03Character Customization
- Avatars, mounts, pets, coin designs, coin bags, and settlement coats of arms can be changed or unlocked through campaign progress.
- 04Island Creation
- Players can make an island according to their own ideas and share it with friends.
- 05Reversible Orders
- Queued actions can be canceled, and completed buildings can be demolished.
The Wild Age compared to similar games
The Wild Age combines worker assignment, settlement construction, and nightly goblin defense, while Creeper World 4 centers on real-time battles against a fluid enemy and building an economy based on energy and mined materials.
