Our take on The Swindle
The pitch gives prominent space to procedural buildings, upgrades, and escalating rewards. The campaign also carries a firm 100-day objective: stealing The Devil’s Basilisk before Scotland Yard activates its surveillance technology. That deadline is central to the premise but less prominent than the repeatable robbery structure.
What is The Swindle?
The Swindle is a steampunk cybercrime game set in London in 1849.
Players break into randomly generated buildings, hack their systems, take cash, and escape before police arrive. A thief can be improved from an airship with new skills, tools, and advanced technology, opening access to larger buildings with stronger security and greater rewards. The central objective is to steal The Devil’s Basilisk before Scotland Yard activates the surveillance technology in 100 days. Each building is generated so the same level does not appear twice. The game combines burglary, hacking, escape sequences, character upgrades, and a time-limited campaign around a cybercrime operation.
How The Swindle plays
- 01Randomized Buildings
- Robbery locations are generated procedurally, so successive levels are not identical.
- 02Thief Upgrades
- An airship-based upgrade system provides new abilities, equipment, and technological tools.
- 03Security Escalation
- Improved burglary capabilities open access to larger sites with stronger protection and higher rewards.
- 04Timed Campaign
- The main objective must be completed before Scotland Yard activates its surveillance project in 100 days.
