Our take on The Story Goes On
The focus on randomized runs, item combinations, and permadeath gives up some consistency: progress and encounters can vary between attempts, while repeated combat and dungeon crawling remain central to the structure.
What is The Story Goes On?
The Story Goes On is a hack-and-slash adventure centered on exploration and dungeon crawling.
Its rogue-lite structure uses randomly generated worlds, permadeath, and items that can change how each run plays. More than 50 items provide buffs, combat changes, or new ways to cross puzzles, with combinations affecting the available approach. Progressing through the game introduces new bosses, stronger enemies, and more complex environments.
Each generated world also contains a pre-built dungeon with additional mechanics, enemies, and story elements. The game features more than 20 bosses, enemies that provide gold when defeated, and an original soundtrack that adapts to the pace of combat. The story follows a hero inside an author’s storybook and includes a talking scarecrow, with cooperative play also available.
