Our take on The Spirit
The presentation gives substantial space to varied environments, spells, weapons, and NPCs, but the core scope is deliberately modest. Weapon variety is also constrained by the ability to hold only one weapon at a time, while crafting produces results randomly.
What is The Spirit?
The Spirit is a simple action RPG influenced by older dungeon crawlers.
The protagonist awakens in an unfamiliar realm after dying and searches for the Rift Keeper, while creatures and demons enter through the Rift. Exploration covers forests, dungeons, villages, caves, citadels, and a haunted cemetery. Combat includes spells and weapons such as swords, spears, and maces, though only one weapon can be carried at a time. Levels branch into side quests, secret portals, and hidden areas.
NPCs can provide story details, join battles, and participate in branching conversations. Enemies and quests provide experience for character progression. Loot comes from chests and crates, while merchants sell items. Unneeded objects can be taken to a Crafting Altar to randomly produce potions, weapons, or other useful items.
How The Spirit plays

- 03Random item crafting
- Collected objects can be offered at a Crafting Altar to produce potions, weapons, or other items.
- 04Character progression
- Completing quests and defeating enemies grants experience used to gain levels and additional powers.
- 05Branching conversations
- NPC dialogue can affect whether a character offered as an ally joins the journey.
