Our take on Rebellion
Its defining structure is a revenge journey through a castle whose layouts and routes change between runs, while decisions and player experience can open different paths.
What is Rebellion?
Rebellion is an action game combining souls-like combat with roguelite structure.
The player begins imprisoned and must escape, explore a castle, and eventually confront its King. Castle areas use procedurally generated layouts, with story routes that can change through decisions and player experience. Combat includes attacks, dodges, parries, kicks, weapons, and backstabs, while stealth allows enemies to be avoided or approached from behind. Allies can be recruited to form a squad, with equipment and combat behavior managed for each member. Enemies share movement capabilities with the player and may become difficult to handle in groups. Defeating enemies develops fighting skills and character level while providing access to new weapons.
How Rebellion plays

- 04Stealth Approaches
- Enemies can be avoided, approached from behind, or attacked with backstabs.
- 05Branching Routes
- Some paths depend on player decisions, while others appear according to experience level.
Rebellion compared to similar games
Ghost of a Tale focuses on playing as Tilo, a mouse and minstrel, with exploration, stealth elements, disguises, and conversations in a medieval animal world. Rebellion instead combines procedural castle layouts, melee combat, recruitable allies, and roguelite progression. Vagante is a dark-fantasy adventure about adventurers facing monsters, demons, and crooks, while Rebellion centers on escaping imprisonment and confronting the King through combat or stealth.
