We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Space-simulation fans who want to manage a station rather than focus only on ship travel
- RPG players who want real-time combat alongside station construction and exploration
- Players who enjoy variable maps and missions rather than fixed planets and predetermined encounters
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a tightly focused combat game may find the station management and exploration systems distracting
- Players who prefer fixed maps and predictable progression may dislike the randomly generated galaxy
- Players looking for a purely realistic space simulation may not want the mix of station building, visitors, and RPG combat
Our take on The Spatials
The game combines station management, exploration, missions, equipment, and real-time combat, giving up a narrowly focused simulation or combat structure. Attention is split between running the station and directing officers across the galaxy.
What is The Spatials?
Set in the year 5781, The Spatials places players in charge of building and leading a space station in a remote part of the galaxy.
Rooms and corridors can be arranged for the crew, while visitors arrive to buy products and generate credits. The game includes 30 star systems and more than 100 planets generated for each game, with planet and asteroid surfaces to explore. Missions introduce allies and enemies, and combat takes place in real time with RPG elements. Officers can collect natural resources and other items, equip technology, and gather loot for station factories. Station construction occurs in real time as the crew builds the selected layout.
