Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players looking for a long adventure may find the very short length limiting.
- Players who want direct control of the knight may not enjoy guiding the story through side characters.
- Players seeking combat-focused gameplay may prefer a game built around action rather than puzzles and dialogue.
Our take on The Protagonish
The side-character viewpoint makes influencing the knight the central activity, but gives up direct control of the hero. The very short format also limits the time available to explore its branching paths.
What is The Protagonish?
This point-and-click adventure takes place in a medieval village where a knight arrives on a mysterious quest.
Instead of controlling the adventurer, players move between side characters and choose whether to guide or distract him. Dialogue choices influence different paths and endings. The characters include a shopkeeper seeking the best deal, a monk who has taken a vow of silence, a miner whose meaning is difficult to understand after a head injury, and a mysterious beastie. Puzzles, village exploration and comedy dialogue reveal the characters’ lives and plans. The game includes full voice acting, hand-drawn animations, colourful characters, British humour and music performed on Celtic instruments.
