Our take on The Path
Its defining structure sends six sisters along separate journeys where breaking the path's central rule is tied to reaching the goal, making choice and consequence the core of progression.
What is The Path?
The Path is a short horror adventure inspired by older versions of Little Red Riding Hood and set in the modern day.
Six sisters leave their city apartment one at a time to visit their sick grandmother in the forest. Exploration, optional activities, and player choices shape each journey, while the narrative leaves much to personal interpretation. The game has no time limits, combat, or difficult puzzles blocking progress. Its third-person, real-time 3D world includes autonomous characters whose behavior can vary between journeys. A continuously changing soundtrack by Jarboe accompanies the experience, with few conventional sound effects. The game takes about 6 hours to complete and contains mature themes without graphic violence or sexual content.
How The Path plays
- 01Six playable sisters
- Each protagonist has a distinct age and personality, presenting the story through different perspectives.
- 02Open-ended exploration
- Optional activities and free movement let players decide how to experience the forest.
- 03Variable character behavior
- Artificial intelligence gives characters some autonomy, so encounters can differ across journeys.
- 04Changing musical score
- Jarboe's soundtrack shifts with events in the game and does not repeat in exactly the same way.
