Our take on Message Quest
Players seeking a substantial adventure may hit the wall when the story concludes after about an hour and a half. Those expecting combat-heavy progression may bounce off the point-and-click structure, where puzzles and conversations carry the journey and boss fights provide occasional set pieces.
What is Message Quest?
Play as the conscience of Feste, a herald whose task is to find a hero and deliver a call to adventure, despite his preference for sleeping and eating candy.
Guide him along the Interworld Road through strange encounters and conversations in a short point-and-click adventure. Traditional puzzles accompany the story, while boss encounters use JRPG-inspired attacks and bonuses. A dialogue system lets players direct both speakers during conversations. The game uses stained-glass visuals, character stories, jokes, hidden references, and an original soundtrack to present its fairy-tale setting. The complete journey lasts about an hour and a half, making it a single-session experience.
How Message Quest plays
- 01Dual-character dialogue
- Players control both participants during conversations rather than directing only the herald.
- 02Traditional puzzles
- Puzzle sections accompany the narrative as part of the adventure.
- 03JRPG-style bosses
- Boss encounters include unusual attacks and bonus effects.
- 04Stained-glass presentation
- The visual style frames the Interworld Road as a fairy-tale setting.
- 05Original soundtrack
- The game includes music composed specifically for its fantasy world.
