Our take on The Overdreamer
Its emphasis on clever item use, hiding, and traps comes at the cost of forgiving combat: direct encounters can end Niki’s life immediately. The design favors cautious observation and problem solving over sustained fights or character strength.
What is The Overdreamer?
The Overdreamer is a side-scrolling 2D horror game starring Niki, a girl trapped in a nightmare she cannot remember entering.
The dream may not belong entirely to her. Progress requires combining different items to defeat enemies and move forward while uncovering what is happening behind the scenes. Most enemies can kill Niki immediately in physical combat, so encounters focus on using intelligence rather than force. Players can avoid threats by hiding or set traps to overcome them.
