Our take on The Imperial Capital Burns - Muv-Luv Alternative Total Eclipse
Its focus on Yui's past gives the game a concentrated character and setting arc, but that focus leaves less room for broader exploration beyond the academy, the invasion, and the events leading into Total Eclipse.
What is The Imperial Capital Burns - Muv-Luv Alternative Total Eclipse?
This prequel to Muv-Luv Alternative Total Eclipse follows Takamura Yui and her fellow students at Yamayuri Girls' Surface Pilot Academy.
Set in Kyoto in 1997, it presents Yui's training as a surface pilot cadet and her relationship with fellow student Yamashiro Kazusa. In 1998, the BETA reach the Japanese mainland and Yui and her companions are sent into battle as newly commissioned officers. The story provides background for Yui's role in Total Eclipse and introduces the wider setting, including the BETA invasion, humanity's struggle for survival, and the development of Tactical Surface Fighters. The game was adapted from a novel originally released as a bonus for buyers of the Total Eclipse anime DVD and Blu-ray set.
