Our take on The Fabulous Fear Machine
Its defining structure is the use of Legends as fear-spreading cards, with each city receiving a customized mix of cryptids, urban myths, and conspiracy theories.
What is The Fabulous Fear Machine?
The Fabulous Fear Machine combines story-led strategy with pulp horror.
As its latest Master, players spread dread and extend their reach by choosing from over 80 Legends drawn from cryptids, folklore, and conspiracy beliefs. Agents move between places, collect supplies, enter enemy facilities, and respond to incidents within the simulation. As news coverage shifts, Legends may be strengthened and reshaped. Competing Masters and other opposing groups work to diminish the Machine’s power. The campaign directs several Masters across distinct parts of the world and gradually uncovers the Machine’s origins, its adversaries, and the Agents serving it. Every city requires its own mixture of Legends and a different set of tactical choices.
