Our take on The Defaloon
Dungeon action often centers on a broad range of exploration or story; here, progression is built around clearing every enemy in a level and finding its portal. Weapon choice also matters because certain enemies call for particular attacks, while mana recovery sets a resource constraint.
What is The Defaloon?
The Defaloon is a single-player action game set in a dungeon where the character wakes without memories, surrounded by undead enemies.
Each level requires defeating all enemies and locating a portal to proceed. Players gain magical abilities or items as they advance, and upgrade weapons before entering a level. Different enemies call for different weapons. Wands fire fireballs while using relatively little mana, but deal weak damage; a staff fires a stronger volley and uses much more mana. Health drinks restore health, while mana regenerates over time. The game also includes a boss, and its levels use a dungeon structure.
How The Defaloon plays
- 01Mana-based weapons
- Wands use little mana for weaker fireballs, while the staff costs more mana and deals stronger damage.
- 02Level progression
- Clearing every enemy and finding the portal opens the way forward, with abilities or items gained at each level.
- 03Pre-level upgrades
- Weapons can be improved before entering each dungeon level.
- 04Health drinks
