Our take on The Cherry Orchard
The fixed, linear format keeps the experience centered on one dramatic story, but leaves little room for player direction or alternate paths. Its roughly one-hour length also limits the scope for extended play.
What is The Cherry Orchard?
A three-dimensional kinetic novel reimagines Anton Chekhov’s play.
In 1904, an unconventional noblewoman and her companions struggle with debts threatening the sale of her estate, while she fails to grasp money’s worth. The linear visual novel examines privilege, societal change, and the results of ignoring financial realities. It combines cinematic sequences with visual-novel presentation and comic-inspired character designs. Vaporwave-style colors and effects define the visual direction. English group-recorded voice performances accompany English and Russian interface text and subtitles. Jordan Roherty is associated with the vaporwave and synthwave soundtrack. The story takes approximately one hour to complete.
