Our take on The Centennial Case : A Shijima Story
The century-spanning premise suggests broad historical exploration, but the core structure remains a sequence of four murder cases built around watching footage, assembling hypotheses, and choosing conclusions.
What is The Centennial Case : A Shijima Story?
This mystery-adventure follows Haruka Kagami, a novelist investigating four murders connected to the Shijima family.
The cases take place across 1922, 1972, and 2022, forming a century-spanning mystery involving the red camellia and the Fruit of Youth. Each case uses three stages. During the Incident phase, players watch the murder unfold and identify clues in the footage. In the Reasoning phase, those clues and mysteries are combined into hypotheses, with multiple possible explanations and some misleading paths.
The Solution phase requires selecting the correct hypothesis and defending it when a culprit challenges the conclusion. The game uses Japanese voice acting, with subtitles in Japanese, English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, and Korean. A behind-the-scenes film contains cast interviews and production footage.
