The Castle Burns!
is a 2D roguelike arena survival game about killing goblins, orcs, and other monsters with oversized weapons and items. Play as Sir Gene Ric Knight or one of the other Champions while trying to stop Malika, an evil goblin-like figure who is burning everything in her path, including the castle. The game asks players to act quickly as the castle burns. Leveling up provides new weapons, and gold coins can be collected to purchase items. A narrator comments on the action and can either be heard or killed. Fairies can also be killed for their life force. The setting and mechanics center on combat, character progression, loot collection, and deliberately absurd equipment.
