We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Adventure players who want decisions about alliances and civilizations

- Players interested in optional combat and ship customization
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a linear adventure with one fixed outcome may find the repeated moral and route decisions unsuitable.
- Those wanting combat to drive every encounter may find the ability to avoid battles limits action-focused play.
- Players looking for a dedicated ship simulator may find the repairs and upgrades secondary to narrative choices.
Our take on The Captain
The game trades a tightly directed journey for consequential choice. Multiple routes, optional encounters, and competing uses for time and money mean that some events and relationships must be left behind during a single trip home.
What is The Captain?
Play as Captain Thomas Welmu, a Spacefleet science officer stranded on the far side of the galaxy while hostile forces head toward Earth.
Travel home under time pressure, choosing between direct routes, detours, distress calls, fundraising, and experimental wormhole technology. Encounters present decisions about civilizations, covert facilities, endangered life-forms, friends, enemies, and the consequences of leaving people behind. Space battles can be fought with ship weapons or avoided. Damage can be repaired personally or by professionals, while money can fund engine improvements, shields, or weapons. The journey also includes heists, prison escapes, social manipulation, and choices that may save or destroy civilizations.
