Our take on The Backrooms: Survival
Rather than using a fixed horror sequence, the game rebuilds its maze, events, items, and threats across runs. Its four modes also shift the usual survival-horror structure, ranging from permanent death to peaceful exploration and a sandbox mode with console commands.
What is The Backrooms: Survival?
The Backrooms: Survival is a horror game built around randomized levels, items, events, and entities.
Players explore confined corridors while managing hunger, thirst, and sanity, gathering food, water, and materials along the way. Resources can be used to craft weapons, tools, and other equipment, while combat allows encounters with hostile entities to be confronted. Four modes include permadeath, adventure, sandbox, and peaceful exploration. Character selection includes names, avatars, and professions with different bonuses. Multiplayer supports online play across platforms, including Nintendo Switch, with optional proximity voice chat. A run can end permanently through its permadeath rules, and deaths are recorded in an in-game obituary system.
